Will affiliate marketing work for you? Of course!-- but only if you learn the right habits of mind. Earning extra money at home can easily can be overwhelming at first. Here are three tips to help you get on track and stay on track. 1. Can you draw it on the back of an envelope? There was once a famous political leader who swore he never read anything that took up more than a page. He felt it wasn't worth knowing about if if couldn't be said in four hundred words or less! What about your business? Can you draw it, or describe it on a sheet of paper or a postcard? If not, I bet it needs to be simplified. Affiliate reselling just ain't that big a deal. Search out a product. Become an affiliate. Put up a simple website, or use one ready made from the vendor. Drive traffic to the site. Collect your money. There, I said it in about forty words! Can you do the same with your business? If you cannot, ask yourself why that is. What non-essentials are hidden in how you think about your business? 2. Even Napoleon only fought one battle at a time. Napoleon wanted to take over all of Europe. (You and I don't have to do that!) But even he, with all his genius, knew to do it one battle at a time. Fail fast, fail often. Ever heard that little saying? It's old, but it's still good advice. Failing often, and then being willing to fail again, means we have the courage to get over our mistakes. Our schooling did us all a disservice: it taught us that making a mistake is "bad" and deserves to be punished. What we were taught at school ill serves us in the real world, either on- or offline. Unless you are willing to make an utter mess of things from time to time, you will never find out what works, what does not work, and what the difference is.
